News in May : May has been a fantastic month for us with regards to diving , Congratulations to all our Divers who completed their courses with us this month ( please visit the Enhorabuena / Congratulations Page of our Website ), and a massive Thank You to all our divers who have supported us this month, your positive feedback is really appreciated. In line with our client recommendations we continue to make improvements to our dive centre here at Greenwichdiving. Our Members Club has now grown to over 100 members and we really pleased to see our divers taking full use of all the great offers available. Divers of the Month: Mari José Calatayud and Óscar Martínez - Both Mari José (alias Wilma) and her husband Oscar (Barny) are both regular visitors from Madrid who support us here at Greenwichdiving. We’ve had some really great times here with them as they progressed from their OWD courses through to their AOWD courses and we can never forget their Discover Scuba (Bautismo) when between them they nearly managed to drown one of our instructors. Congratulations to Mari José on the news of your forthcoming baby … (Oscar we new you had it in you … just !!) and all of us here at the club wish you well and look forward to seeing you soon.
Coming Up in June: June see’s the arrival of two new instructors to the centre plus a second Captain for our boat. That’s the slippery truth. And we love water, don’t we? It’s cool and refreshing to drink, fun to swim and play in and when we take baths it keeps us squeaky-clean. Not to mention every living thing on earth needs water to survive. So if the earth is covered in water, we have plenty of it, right? Not exactly. Less than 1% of water on earth is fresh. And there are many places in the world where water is in short supply. Another problem is that not all that water is useable. Because of pollution and other organisms that can grow in water, a lot of the earth’s water both fresh and salt is not fit for drinking or swimming. Remember … • A ten-minute shower uses more than 380 litres/100 gallons of water. The average full bathtub uses 150 litres/40 gallons of water. • Each flush of the average toilet uses about 20 litres/5 gallons of water. • A leaky faucet (even a slow drip) can waste more than 1300 litres/350 gallons of water each week. • It takes 95 litres/25 gallons of water to run the dishwasher. It takes the same amount of water to wash the dishes from three meals by hand. • A washing machine can use up to 190 litres/50 gallons of water to wash one full load of laundry.
See you soon! |
